Check the application limits
BLACK Fire Cement is a ready-to-use compound resistant up to 1250°C in the specified range. The sheet describes small indoor repairs. The product is not intended for arbitrary outdoor work or constant contact with moisture.
Measure the defect and check the stability of the element. If the part moves or loses support, first determine the cause. A layer of new material should not replace a damaged support or cover a detail intended to move.
Compare the task to other materials
Premium Fire Cement also describes minor refractory applications. The choice of variant should result from the documentation and the required finish. Do not infer other material properties solely from a colour difference in the packaging photo.
For the appropriate thin brick joints, use HPM Heatproof Mortar. It has a different function and requirements. Do not treat repair material as an automatic substitute for full mortar in any wall geometry.
Prepare the area before application
On a cold device, remove loose residues and dirt in accordance with the product and substrate instructions. Maintain the shape and access to the connection. Prepare only the work area that can be completed correctly without improvising on hot parts.
Take into account the required bonding, drying, and gradual preparation before further firing. Record the product, location, and date of the repair. After the intended use, compare them when cold. A recurring mark requires a reassessment of the cause, not just covering it with another portion of black compound.
